2nd Annual “Money Talks, Art Walks”Back by Popular DemandFriday, March 13, 2009—7–10 pm, at the IAO GalleryHow often do you hear the words “art show” and “high energy” in the same sentence? With Money Talks, Art Walks, you see the two coincide: an exciting event giving people the opportunity to add affordable art to their collections.
Again this year, attendees had the option to buy Money Talks tickets for three pools: $100, $75 or $50. Each collector could buy as many tickets as he or she wished, in any or all of the pools. Only enough Money Talks tickets were available to represent the pieces of art available. The artist for each piece will only be identified after the work is sold. The Master of Ceremony Tony Lacy began the three groups of random drawings with the $100 pool, followed by the $75 pool and then the $50 pool. Each time he pulled a ticket, he called a name and that person had just 30 seconds to pick whichever piece of artwork remaining on the wall he or she wanted.
This year each artwork was no larger than 8.5” x 11”, unframed and unmatted, in any two-dimensional media on paper—including drawings, monoprints, and photographs. (There was one or two exceptions, pieces that needed folding to fit the specs.)
